- Centrally located at Yinajalan Ngarrungunil Health and Wellbeing Campus, close to local amenities
The Cook Government has awarded the contract to EMCO Building for the Broome Step Up/Step Down (SUSD), which will strengthen mental health services in the Kimberley.
EMCO Building will construct the purpose-built facility, which will be located at the Yinajalan Ngarrungunil Health and Wellbeing Campus.
The six-bed residential service will provide short-term, community-based mental health support for adults experiencing mental health issues, in a home-like setting close to their community, friends and family.
The SUSD model of care bridges the gap between hospital and home by supporting people to develop strategies to manage their wellbeing and avoid hospital admission.
Additional support will also be provided to help residents transition back into their home and community by building healthy routines and coping strategies.
The State Government is investing $4.9 billion in health infrastructure, including in SUSD facilities to ensure people can access the mental healthcare they need.
It is part of the Cook Government's commitment to supporting the wellbeing of all Western Australians.
